Rides-iconAll rides are open to all HoECC members and are listed in the Events calendar on the right hand side of the website.

The rides on different days tend to have different speeds and distances ... nobody gets left behind!   Rides are broadly described as follows:

Wednesdays :  Approximate distances are - Summer  50 - 70 miles, Winter 40 - 60 miles (with lunch at 1230-1245) - the distance from the start to lunch is usually between 25 and 30 miles - average speed 12 - 13.5mph.

Unless the weather is very bad we stop for a short "roadside 11s" break of about 10 minutes (bad weather stops may be at cafes but these are the exception as the time for a serving a large group can escalate and impact on riding time)

Wednesday rides normally start at The Red Lion PH, Earlswood - occasional  "car assist" rides are organised where we drive to and start from another meet point in order to extend the area where we ride.

Approximately every 7 weeks the Wednesday ride is in two parts (Loop rides) in the morning and afternoon - the objective being to offer a shorter ride for potential new riders and the option for regular riders to ride in the morning or the afternoon, or both.  The PM Loop rides will start at approx 1400 from the AM Loop's lunch venue. (see Events Calendar)

Saturdays : Approx 25 miles ride out to a 1600 tea stop (where the ride usually terminates) - some riders make their own way home from the tea stop, while others often visit a pub on the way back to the Earlswood area, thus making a total ride distance of 35-50 miles - average speed 13.5 – 15.0 mph – Saturday rides start at The Reservoir PH, Earlswood (see Events Calendar)

Sundays – alternate Sundays : HALF DAY rides are approx 35 miles with a coffee stop and return to the start point, ALL DAY rides are 60-80 miles with a pub lunch – average speed 13 – 15mph – Sunday Rides may start at various locations (see Events Calendar)

Sundays - NEW for 2017 there is a Casual/Social ride from The Red Lion at 1000 - approx 25 miles at a relaxed pace and ideal for newcomers to the club or cycling. This ride is subject to change dictated by demand and riders numbers.

We also have a sociable group that rides along at about 9 to 10 mph on Wednesdays and Sundays - the rides for this group are pre-fixed ER in the Ride Calendar.  Many of these riders are long-term members.

UPDATE: April 2016 - the "start time" has in the past allowed 15 minutes grace for some ride days - to remove anomalies ALL stated times in the Events listings are now the times of the RIDE DEPARTURE

New riders are welcome* - just come along!
