Six riders out for the F&F ride to Hornton, on another warm and sunny day. Our route took us down to Lowsonford via Copt Green, through Norton Lindsey before crossing the river at Hampton Lucy. Through Kineton, after which members struggled to control their delight as we approached Edge Hill! The Climb was completed in fine style by all and we enjoyed a flat run across the top of the Cotswolds, before a short sharp descent into Horton where we parked up outside the Dun Cow, a classic traditional Cotswold Pub. Regrettably the internet has not fully reached this part of England and the pub was shut, contrary to indications on the net, opening only in the evenings and lunchtime at weekends. The landlady kindly filled our water bottles before waving us off. We then commenced an enjoyable game of hunt the open Cotswold Village Pub, but we were defeated on all counts. A swift and flowing ride through Tysoe brought us to the Black Horse Inn, Shipston on Stour, where our group enjoyed the Thai food at very reasonable prices. A slightly extended ride, through Illmington and some of the less travelled but well surfaced lanes north of Mickleton brought us to Welford on Avon. After some more indirect and circuitous routing we finally arrived at the the Coach, having being motor-paced very slowly behind a tractor along Seafield Lane. About 90 miles for me although I understand some members intended to put in a loop on the way home to make it 100.....
