Seven 'Fallen Angles' turned up for Wednesday's sunny F&F ride to Stoke Golding.
Our route took us past Corley Services and on to Bedworth. After negotiating the one-way system in the town centre, we dropped down onto cycle route 52. This took us beside the Coventry Canal for a while before going on some disused track and then a well surfaced path. It meant we could miss all the traffic in Nuneaton and it has it's own tunnel under the A5 just before Higham on the Hill. Typical cycle route with 80% being fine but the rest being rocky or muddy.
We arrived at the George & Dragon (owned by Church End Brewery) just after 12:30. The five metal bike riders went straight in for lunch while the plastic pair (Richard and Pete) remained outside for a while to sort out the problems cycle route 52 had caused.
Cycling from Ratcliffe Culey and on to Atherstone you can see the Hartshill ridge looming ahead. At the top of the climb, with the temperature approaching 25c and riding a 72 inch fixed wheel steel bike, Andy finally decided to take off his leg warmers. Obviously something that 'whitelegs Andy' doesn't do very often!!
The standard route back via Ridge Lane and Coleshill deposited us back at the Bulls Head in plenty of time for post ride refreshments in the beer garden. 87 miles for me.
