Just four riders at RLE on Mothering Sunday. Mike B had dutifully turned up to lead the Casual ride but had no takers this time.
Captain Cooke had a cunning plan for the all day ride. Basically, bring our own sandwiches and stay away from cafe's and pubs, as they would be very busy. The route to Ridge Lane was via Pickford, Corley, Astley and Ansley. We arrived at our regularly frequented, Church End establishment, around twelve twenty but were greeted with an unexpected sight. The main room had been set up with.......... china teapots and cake stands on every table!!!! 'Surly nobody would bring their Mother to a Brewery Tap House on Mothering Sunday, would they?' asked Tim H.
The answer was errrrr....... yes, loads of people did indeed bring their Mothers in. I observed one chap guild his Mum into the Tea Room section while telling his own son to get the beer in!!!
The expected afternoon rain didn't catch us out as we made a more direct route back via Meriden. 71 miles.
