The Wednesday 20th March regular ride took us southwards to Arden’s Grafton. We set off in two groups each led by the joint captains. It was a lovely, sunny day and the whole route (clockwise) took us on quiet, wide lanes with sweeping views of the countryside. There are still plenty of daffodils and lots of trees are in bud - all to be expected as it was the first day of spring.
Shortly after Claverdon we stopped for roadside 11ses, each group only about 500 yards apart but not realising it until it was time to leave. Nigel caught up with us there and, spurred on by the thought of his pizza order, overtook on the home straight.
At the pub (The Golden Cross) we received a warm welcome with a drink from Mike L to celebrate his birthday, and prompt service with our pre-ordered meals. Food was excellent and beer too.
Two Stratford members joined us for lunch.
We returned in one group via Temple Grafton, Aston Cantlow and Ullenhall. Numbers dwindled even further at Pigtrot Lane and only 3 returned to Earlswood.
This was a 43 mile route and a 57 mile round trip for us.
