At last the chance to ride! After two weeks rides were cancelled because of the inclement conditions it was a relief to be back on the bike.
Slowly the peloton assembled with a new rider Tony joint our number. Setting off in two groups we headed the standard way to Ullenhall thence to elevenses a couple of miles from Great Alne.
Riding down Coughton Fields the Captain stopped to indicate the route to avoid the ford: didn't want to use the space blanket too soon! On the way to Sambourne Stratford Bob had a front puncture, Clive came to the rescue. Just short of the Old Bull in Inkberrow the same occurred to Mick. ::).
The first tranche of riders arrived at the Galton Arms at 12.50. Excellent fish & chips and a wonderful pint of Bathams. Unfortunately the Captain had had a significant birthday the day before so bought the riders a drink and was then treated to the "singing" of 'Happy Birthday'.
Leaving two behind to make their own way back we headed towards Feckenham. At Flying Horse Lane the Captain suggested that the other riders carry on as he had a rear puncture. Note to self: at the AGM next year do not say it's been ages since anyone had a puncture on a Wednesday  :-[
Clive assisted and we were on our way soon enough.
Just short of 50 miles for me and a thoroughly enjoyable day.
