F&F Wednesday 20 March Capt. Pete

Tra la la, it’s the first day of Spring and the weather is good. Five of us set off on the F&F ride to Stony Stanton with a mild tail wind. Out through Berkswell and Warwick university and after a group discussion on how best to negotiate Tollbar island we stopped for elevenses and decided all our handlebars were one hawthorn twig wide! Onward onto the plain of east Coventry and the F&F train made good time resisting the option to stop at the Pig in Muck and and arrived at the Star for lunch at 12:40. After a beer, baguette and coffee for less than £8.00 and resisting the urge to join in the bingo session going on in the corner of the bar we set off, into the breeze this time. Whilst skirting the Hinckley and Coventry conurbations the Garmins threw a wobbly with one completely throwing it’s rattle out the pram and switching off whilst the other one went on a go slow making navigation challenging. Crossing the A45 at the Allesley interchange was busy with fast moving traffic and Pinketts Green would probably have been a better option. The final miles to the Bull at Earlswood were uneventful and most of us settled in for a welcome drink after a cracking ride. 91 miles for me.
