Some of our club riders use GPS devices. Those that use Garmin Connect may not realise that it is possible to upload your activities to Strava. This provides details of your ride such as: Max Speed, Ave. Speed, Distance, Cadence (if a cadence meter is fitted), Temperature, HR (if monitor fitted). Strava also has parts of roads that fellow riders think are worthy of having best times; these are called Strava segments. They give, for example, the best overall time, best year's time, your best time and the league table of riders you are following on Strava or who are members of a Strava Club.
Heart of England Cycling Club now has its own Strava Club (set up by me). Please feel free to join.
HOWEVER, what we don't want is for our club cyclists when on a club run to go screaming off the front as a segment is coming up. PLEASE only use the feature as a tool to improve your own cycling when not on a club run, thanks - have fun!

My PBs on any appreciable climbing segments round here were invariably achieved when trying to hang on to Alan Cooke's wheel on a HoECC ride!
