Five of us on 4 cycles (Captain Tim , Ruth & Mike on the Tandem, Pete and Roger) set off in Wintery Sunshine ...it wasn't long before we encountered our 1st road works (simple traffic lights) worse was to follow.  Park Lane into Berkswell was closed as expected and a suitable detour planned for.  11's of mulled wine and mince pies were imbibed slightly off route at Berkswell Green and then the route re-joined at the end of Baulk Lane near Berkswell Station. on then to Kennilworth Greenway to find it closed (and for good) thanks to HS2.  The unplanned detour was not especially pleasant and added another 1mile to the route. Roger left us at Kennilworth (sorry misunderstod ... never said goodbye and have a lovely Christmas)
The ride to Stretton through Stoneleigh and on was uneventful and we sat to eat sandwiches and coffee improved with a tot of whisky (thanks Pete).
The return journey through Cubbington, Leek Wootton, Beausale, was uneventful until the end of Rising Lane when the Captain decided to take unnecessary detour (to avoid the B-road) only to turn left early and end up a few yards up the road having gone an extra mile.  Another detour at the end of Nuthurst Grange Road avoided the tandem having to climb up Monument Lane brought us safely back to RLE.
53 miles on route average moving speed 13.3 mph
